Rating explanation

Smokeless?

Indicates if it can be used in a smoke control area or not.

HETAS Approved?

Yes or No – HETAS is the governing body for solid fuels and solid fuel appliances – for more information on HETAS Approval click here

Ease of Ignition

5 star = very easy to light

1 star = difficult to light

Please note - more volatile (easy to light) products will have reduced longevity in banking and fire life times

Heat out put calorific value (kj/kg) & Star Rating

5 star = heat output is high

1 star = heat output is low

this can vary especially on the natural/none manufactured products

Banking Time

5 star = banks for a long amount of time

1 star = banks for a low amount of time

Flame picture

5 star = a very attractive larger flame

1 star = flame size is reduced to a minimum

Please note – if the flame size is large it will be more volatile which may effect other aspects of the performance.

Fire Life

5 star = the fire will last along time – not including banking time

1 star = the fire will not continue for long and will require refuelling more often.

Under-Grate residue

5 star = low amount of ash is produced

1 star = high amount of ash is produced
